Left 4 Dead 2

#1

Let me first just say FUCK australia just let us play the game

Left 4 Dead 2 was refused classification in Australia by the Office of Film and Literature Classification (OFLC). It failed to gain a MA15+ rating, the highest possible rating for video games, thus preventing the sale of the game within the country.[URL=“http://oceaniceagles.com.au/forums/#cite_note-46”][47] In its report, the OFLC cited the reason for refusing classification as “The game contains violence that is high in impact and is therefore unsuitable for persons aged under 18 to play.”[URL=“http://oceaniceagles.com.au/forums/#cite_note-47”][48] However, a small number of members of the OFLC board believed the game could merit the MA15+ rating which was used to publish the first Left 4 Dead. It is expected that changes could be made to the game, as had to be done with [URL=“http://oceaniceagles.com.au/wiki/Fallout_3”]Fallout 3, to allow the game to be classified as MA15+ and thus sold in Australia.[URL=“http://oceaniceagles.com.au/forums/#cite_note-48”][49] Both Lombardi and Newell were “surprised” by the classification refusal.[URL=“http://oceaniceagles.com.au/forums/#cite_note-49”][50][URL=“http://oceaniceagles.com.au/forums/#cite_note-au_remake-50”][51] Valve appealed the OFLC’s decision about a week after being notified of the ruling, comparing the sequel to its predecessor, which had been classified as MA15+, and the mature ratings the sequel had received from similar rating organizations around the world.[URL=“http://oceaniceagles.com.au/forums/#cite_note-51”][52] However, as the appeal process, expected to end on October 22, was close to the planned release date, Valve had also submitted a modified version of the game for classification addressing the concerns the OFLC has stated.[URL=“http://oceaniceagles.com.au/forums/#cite_note-au_remake-50”][51] This version, which no longer contained images of “decapitation, dismemberment, wound detail or piles of dead bodies”, has been classified as MA15+ by the OFLC, thus allowing for the game’s release in Australia, though Valve and Electronic Arts still hope to have their preferred, unmodified version classified by the OFLC for release.[URL=“http://oceaniceagles.com.au/forums/#cite_note-52”][53] Left 4 Dead 2’s classification refusal has reignited debate over the OFLC’s current lack of a video game classification for adult material, as similar classifications exist for films and other media.[URL=“http://oceaniceagles.com.au/forums/#cite_note-53”][54] (Thank you wiki)

#11

please sign, not as big as the MW2 1 but im hoping that it might do something

http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?l4d2inoz

probably wont but 1 can try

#12

lol yeh online petitions are sadly not a strong tool at all for us little people. The MW2 was good because (a) it had a relatively large number of people sign it and (b) the implications of the petition are that people are unhappy, which means bad business, which means IW lose money.

Sadly for (a), I doubt many will sign, and for (b) the OFLC doesn’t give a bugger if it upsets people, they just work to their guidelines. What’s a million times more important is to get an R rating classification in australia, rather than focus on any one game.

still signed, but not hopeful (hell, i ain’t even hopeful about MW2 )

After playing GOW2, all I can say is WTF is the OFLC smoking? How does it only get an MA but L4D RC

#14

im assuming its cuz epic games is willing to splash cash where as valve isnt?

#15

this makes me angry, i agree with dragon GOW2 passes and this doesnt sound the same to me

This modified version has a significantly less amount of gore. Decapitation and dismemberment were removed, blood splatter is almost completely non-existent, and the ever-ambiguous ‘piles of dead bodies’ issue has been solved by removing dead zombi-, err, rabies-infected living humans, as soon as they hit the ground.

This is after youve been inside almost drowning in blood as you cut its arteries and see thick blood poor out over you and everything else, as an almost dead with ribs exposed guy gets eaten…

Now tell me, why is L4D2 RCed?

#17

played the demo, now wishing i was dead. go vid of it, uploading to xfire now, will tell u when its done.

its more censored the the original. there has been several rumors that

A) there is a fix to get round it
B) valve may release a patch to give us back the violance

im just waiting for the OFLC to get back to valve, was meant to be on the 22nd but ive seen no news.

#18

I’m fairly sure I saw the news that they rejected the appeal, leaving us boned.

People over at OCAU have got the gore working through various methods, but Valve just put a patch out which closed down most go arounds. Will keep an eye on it to see if people manage to get around it when the final release comes out.

#19

vids are uploaded if u wanna watch

#20

I thought you wished you were dead though? Surprised you could bear the pain of up-loading a video of the game if it’s all really THAT bad.
