Modern warfare error

Hey everyone, need a hand here. I’m trying to play mod warfare 2 but when i go to run optimal video and audio settings and the game asks me if i want to apply, i select yes and a window pops up saying, “DirectX encounted an unrecoverable error.”

Any ideas???

Did you install DirectX when you installed MW2?

In any case, download the latest version of DirectX, it may be the quickest fix.

directx is up to date already but for some reason it seems to be working fine now.
