Hey ive got a laptop here which has vista on it, im formatting and putting win7 on it. But it only has 1 gig of ram, how do i find out how much ram it can have and of what speed?

I want to upgrade the ram to like 4 gig, or 2 if thats all it will need.

Its a HP530 if that helps.

Centrino duo 1.68GHz
Intel graphics
120GB HDD

Cheers matey

Easiest way to do it without taking the Ram out of it would be just to use CPU-Z. It should tell you what type of ram it has in it (look under the “memory” tab)

It should be able to take 2 gigs without to much trouble, same goes for 4gb but it isn’t really necessary for a laptop. They can take any speed, if the ram is rated higher than what the motherboard can take, then it will run at the slower speed. Not knowing too much about laptop Ram, just get the most basic stuff you can find, it’s not like you will ever be over clocking it anyway.
