Holy shit cabby that looks awesomes hopefully should sell quite easily…

#3

why USB, do you just want to run an MP3 Player?

#4

well usb is good cos then i can get a cheap small 100gb+ hdd for all my music

#5

100gb. See thats just silly

I have an ipod nano 8 gig and have it a third full with over 1000 songs.

I juts purchased a docking station for the car that tunes it into a radio station and it work perfectly.

cost $79 and you can run and mps from it as well as apple products.

http://www.jbhifi.com.au/portable/mp3-players/ipod/accessories/

might be a much cheaper option than forking out massive dollars for a car radio.

#6

Cost of ipod nano + dock = approx $278

Sell his head unit for $300 and buy new one for $419 = cost $119

which leaves plenty of room for ext HDD

:stuck_out_tongue: Id take Cabby’s option, but im not an apple fanboy anyways haha

#7

you dont need an ipod, you can buy many different types of tuners that go with any mp3 players.

i HATE!!! ipods, never will i buy one, cos itunes is the fail. And i have 35gb of music so 8gb ain’t gonna cut it

this is what i’d get in terms of external, small compact with plenty of room http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2=131&bid=2&sid=49898

i checked the model on my unit it says DEH-P8850MT but it looks identical to the 9850 so really there shouldn’t be much difference

#9

see i have over 300 cd’s but in all seriousness, when the hell am i going to need every song of every cd, so i loaded my top 1000, surely more than enough…not sure why you hate ipods, itunes etc, its just a tool.

#10

and itunes works rly well now … ive never had a problem with it … it loads fast and does what its meant todo

#11

Yeh it is reasonably solid now. For aaaaaaages tho iTunes was a god awful piece of crap, I still only use it to load up the pod. FTR, I’m sittin on 120gb of music, a vast portion of which was taken from a mate’s collection which dwarfs that

On topic, you can get FM transmitters rather cheap, and they can be used on any MP3 player. I bought one off ebay for $15 or so. Sound isn’t as great as if it was plugged in directly, which may or may not improve as you spend more moolah like the one Chilli posted, but a damn cheap option.
