Caboose needs a new big TV

Folks are getting a home theatre system with their comm. bank rewards points, its a pretty epic system

http://www.panasonic.com.au/Products/Home+theatre/Home+theatre/SC-BTT775/Overview

And our current 32" cheapo LCD TV doesn’t have the epicness dad wants for the new HTS.

I’m not much of a TV guru only watch sport on it (TV series are best downloaded on release :shades:). Was thinking along the lines of Samsung, they make top monitors so I guess the TVs are good. Sony Bravia and LG also come into mind.

http://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-lcd-led-plasma/samsung/55-inch-full-hd-3d-led-lcd-smart-tv-sku-68080/ this was the one i was thinking dad should get.

55" is about what we’re after, and 2K is a pretty decent price range. No prejectors…house is not big enough :stuck_out_tongue:

id go the : LG 55" FULL HD LED

i can ask my bro in law about them if you want … he’s a store manager for jb over here … i can find out the best price jb will sell them for??

dont forget the extended warranty is often negotiable and a must!. LED is the way to go and Samsung do them best from what ive seen.

Ive got an LG LCd and its tops as well as a panasonic plasma. Both good. Bravia over rated IMO. They always demo it with a blue ray so it looks smick

Cheers azza i will make sure to go with dad when he does go and buy one

Sony and Samsung use the same panels internally for the same display features (LED, 3d, 10/12bit etc), so it really comes down to price and other features of the tv there. I’ve got a Bravia but I’d be just as happy with a Samsung.

LG based on their pc monitors and the 1 tv we have seems flimsier and at least on the tv has washed out colors.

Panasonic are good for their plasmas not lcds.

Out of the ones you listed I would definatly go the Samsung, its a higher tier panel, Sony one is nice too.

Edit: Just relized the Panasonic your looking at is a plasma. Burn in does happen, so if you watch anything with a constant solid colors (like the scoreboard in sports) or playing games, dont get one, otherwise it comes down to if you like the color. Also since your HT system is panasonic it should have some sort of nice setup where you can control the HT from the tv remote or vice versa

yeah, not getting plasma, don’t need a giant heater. And JB don’t have a panasonic LED bigger than 42" dad i reckon wants 55" LED, hence i reckon that samsung for under 2.2k is the way to go

if your going 55 just go 60…:wink2:

The new samsung plasmas are very energy efficient, almost as good, if not on par with their LCDs. They barely even get warm. Panasonic are meant to make awesome Plasma TVs too but I’ve never had a chance to play with one yet.

The only reason I would spend more on a LCD over a Plasma these days is if I was going to use the TV as a monitor. The latest Samsung plasma’s I’ve mucked around with don’t burn in anywhere near as quickly as the previous ones did all whilst offering a far better response rate which is nicer when watching sport.

IMO, LCD is still better but for the cost, Plasma is hard to beat whilst offering practically the same benefits other than possible screen burning which has been minimised.

I can tell you this much…Plasmas are fuking heavy!
