The Witcher 2

Being at work I can’t throw up the trailers for this game. But I’ve gone ahead and preordered for some basic reasons not related to the game itself.

  • A very reasonable cost - $44 from Gog.com (CD Projekt own this, so no middle men hiking up the price). Plus you get an old school game free. Still months off release, but you don’t actually pay until release date.
  • One of the last big titles gettin designed and released on PC, and ported to consoles after the fact.
  • They’ve got the right idea (i hope) against piracy. http://www.bit-tech.net/news/gaming/2010/11/23/cd-projekt-will-fine-witcher-2-pirates/1. No DRM to annoy the paying customers (I had no drama with AC2, but ubi’s drm on Hawx2 is driving me up the wall).

Aside from that the first game was supposedly epic. I say supposedly because I’ve got the extended edition sitting around, but unplayed as yet. At least i’ve got a fair few months to get through it!

Yeh pretty much same cost, cept then you’re throwing on drm + steam take a cut :tongue2:. Until steam starts having globally consistent pricing and is actually cheaper than a boxed retail version, I’ll keep avoiding it as much as possible.

Yeh, in fairness I can’t say for certain whether that was steam or Optus’ fault (which is why i’ve editted it out). Our net’s been freakin gay of late. Got TPG all lined up, just waiting on Telstra to activate the line.

I’ll have to look at some reviews, playing a proper PC game again does sound tempting.

That looks really good, finally there’s some rpg’s coming out that are worth playing, this and ES5 are my most anticipated but if they don’t screw dungeon siege 3 up (which at the moment it looks like they have) that should be good, and then there’s diablo 3.:rolleyes2:

Haha, well considering Ozgameshop are taking pre-orders I’m hoping that means we’re safe. Dunno if you’ve heard, but it’s unlikely to see a Blizzard game this year. Rumour is next Starcraft and Diablo are penned for a 2012 release.
