I think soundcards/quailty headphones are a little like ssd’s…you don’t need them but once you try them you realize how much your missing out on…imo…:wink2: Same could be said with monitors going from a tn panel to a true ips panel WOW wouldn’t go back and too see gaming in true colour makes a hell of a difference…

Possibly one of the most accurate X58 v P67 reviews/benches ive seen showing the sandy bridge being the best gaming setup … and the 2500k being the primo chip for it too.
Buying new from c2d/amd id look no further than a 2500k p67 setup for a gaming pc … second hand buying, it is which ever platform that can be had for the least $$ of course.
working now
thats a huuuuuge test, and a great one at that, can’t wait to get a sandy bridge XD don’t think i’ll go 2011 socket, not a fan of getting a cpu and mobo on release
Being completely real though, if you had a 775 dual core, just switching out for a quad would suffice for gaming. No game really utilises all cores on a quad efficiently yet but it does offer considerable boost in games such as bc2.
I will certainly be trying to work out a way to switch the x58 for ivy when it arrives, just for the sake of it lol. While not needed, half the shit we run isnt so its not relevant… and its only money in the end
Awesome review.
Agree with the last post, the 775 socket still has serious grunt when coupled with a quad core.
new CM Cosmos II on the way, looks pretty sweet, makes me miss my old Cosmos S

From these test results, the Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition is pitched to be about 47.25% faster on average, compared to Core i7-990X Extreme Edition.
looking to be a beasty socket. I never touch top level CPUs but still, should mean the cheaper ones will OC like hell
Pretty impressive if it’s true. 47% on average is a fairly huge jump, especially if that means clock for clock. Looks like the quad channel DDR3 IMC has a bit to do with its performance.
Yeah, bugger the top tier processors when the entry - middle range variants will clock like mad anyway.
