Only thing left is the graphics card

#1

Time to upgrade the last (and probably the most important) part of the computer, now I know my current Radeon HD 5770 is still going strong, however I hear it simply wont cut it when the big games come out in 2-3 months (also a brother needs a card to fit my old/his new :stuck_out_tongue: pc). So im asking OE whats their experience and recommendations with graphics cards that are around the $250 mark, and will it fit the tiny asus p8p67 pro mobo

I think Mac suggesting a GTX560

… Also Ive still been having problems overclocking, so if anyone is on ts tonight that could help me that would be great

Ok, so if I brought this…

Which driver should I install?

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

The GeForce GTX 560 or the GeForce GTX 560 Ti

That card looks like the non-Ti version (it usually states it after the model). So go the regular GTX560 driver. Umart could of just left the ā€œTiā€ out, but it would of been written on the box if it was a Ti variant.

Edit: You would use the ā€œTiā€ driver if you bought this card.

GTX 560 is a solid card, the alternative would be an HD 6950.

There’s practically nothing between those two cards.

I’d jump on and give you a hand with over clocking, but I’m working on an assignment atm.

$239 for a 1gb HIS 6950

all around $250 most are under cept the last one

Yer I got to do the same…FARK…

Will the HD4890 be able to play on medium settings??? I might have tp persevere for a month or two.

3DFX Voodoo5 5500 ftw

I think you’ll get by ok, it’ll be enough to get you started anyway. If it doesn’t live up to your expectations, it’s only too easy to change the card out for something quicker then.

Ended up buying GTX560 DCll TOP ( http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/NVIDIA_Series/ENGTX560_Ti_DCII_TOP2DI1GD5/ )

Its a massive card

Looks awesome, I think Chromium might have the same card?

#11

n1 good choice…

Took me about 10 minutes to figure out that this card needs 2 power connections attached to actually work

… I do curse Asus for the box the card came in, the cardboard edges are sharp and bloody cut me because of all the excitement  I aint talking about a paper cut

ROFL

Haha, yeah those PCI-E power connectors catch a few people out.

In regards to the paper cut, this is the first thing that came to mind, lol
