Haha, I can’t wait for it now.

ooo patchness. Might get that and redo it for normal then. Can u change difficulty mid game? Think I might do an elf mage too, as I’m assuming their more adept at magic (can’t remember what stats were like).

My general play throughs are

  • Mage (if the spells are epic enough)
  • Paladin or Beserker
  • thief

think I mighta rolled a druid like once, and never used a cleric as my main dude, sif i’m gonna be support in a single player game!

Party wise, are there more or less of certain types, or have u got a pretty even spread to choose from?

#63

I’m pretty sure you can change difficulty mid game. That is good and bad though, might find myself losing a battle and changing the difficulty down, lol.

I don’t know which role I will end up playing, but I like Melee type characters, I like hitting people over the head with big, blunt objects.

#64

ill have to check but most you cant from my experience … as otherwise you can blast past hard bits on easy mode … :yucky:

Party wise you generally get a frontliner … with some spell backing … im not too far into it still ( aka … the same spot as last week lol)… LiikkZ might shed some more light on it

collectors edition for $85…thats $25 cheap than boxed normal copy from EB lolz

Aside from physical stuff, I think the collectors comes with a few extra quests or that? I’m also pretty sure you can buy those as DLCs for a reasonable amount.

#67

Haha, comes with an in game item for ME2.

Yeah I never have been sucked in to buying a collectors edition.

#68

yeah … 5 items plus some quests ( i scored and got the items with the preorder vanilla edition lol) … so i sold em in game and had 7 GOLD COINS!!!

#69

that is true, despite healer/cleric being my favourite class this is one of the few games other than the dnd ruleset where pure healing is an option. Game difficulty CAN be changed mid-game. Mages are good and there are different specialisations for mages as well which is good, just mixes things up a bit. The retail version comes with one out of the two sets of DLC currently available. You can choose who joins your party (some NPCs are available for pickings so you can roll out with 4 mages or 4 warriors or some combination, though i recommend at least one mage as they do come in handy - specially the buff that sets all allies weapons on fire etc)

Just started playing today, I’m a dwarf warrior, but with the castless background rather than the noble as it sounded more interesting.

Pretty awesome from the small amount I’ve seen this far, a lot of story and dialogue which is what I have been craving.

#71

There’s lots of nice talky talky, and it’s good that everything is voiced which is a real achievement. But then, you start noticing a pattern to Bioware games with the dialogue

A) Be Nice
B) Ignore
C) Be a Dick
D) Kill the fuck out them

Example,

Morrigan: Hey come F**K me hard like a wild beast

A) Okay, I like your digital boobs
B) Pffft, whatever
C) No, and you’re a heartless shrew
D) Fuck off or I stab you.

#72

Haha, those generic dialogue options are no different to how I treat real life conversations…

I now understand your love hate relationship with this game also. It can be so frustrating. Sometimes I can go through a pack of enemies without even having to pause and manage the players, other times I find myself pausing after every move and just trying to keep one player alive. The level of difficulty is so varied between area to area that it just doesn’t seem right. I am playing it on normal difficulty btw, applied both patches.

Sometimes it’s ok as you can lure a few enemies away from the main pack and generally whoop them, then go lure a few more, rinse and repeat. Though you are truly up shit creek when you walk into a big open area (such as the courtyard at the redcliffe castle) and get archers and melee types dropping out of nowhere, it doesn’t matter that the archers are weak, as the other enemies are slowing chipping away at your health. Then there’s always one “master” that comes around after you’ve almost won and takes you out with a single attack. WTF!!!

Awesome game, but the randomly varied difficulty between one group of enemies to the next isn’t something I particularly rate highly, puts a real grind on the fluidity of the games story.

#74

I find it’s easiest to play with a mage PC. On my second playthrough now, and FUCK it’s sooo easy now having 2 nuke mages as opposed to just morrigan. Also, 1 tank and 3 ranged is an awesome way to go.

I have myself using mass disable and cone of cold, and morrigan doign the same, while leilana spams flying bits of wood and metal and alistair sits in the front and goes HIT ME ASSHOLES IT TURNS ME ON!

#75

lmao, yeh i’m just in lothering now with the same combo, cept no frost atm cept for morrigan’s lvl 1. Fireball into the group and Lightning storm is made of deadly win :shades:. Also 10 mins of basic conversation and I’m already hookin up with Morri, no booze involved! I spose it is a fantasy game tho >.<

#76

LOL, you speak as if that is an achievement John, my dwarf hooked up with her after 10 minutes and you know… HE’S a FREAKING DWARF!

I find that the ice moves tend to be a bit more effective than fire, but that just may be due to where I am in the game atm. Even at the temple where those sacred ashes are supposedly meant to be, I fought some big ice rhino thing and morrigan destroyed it by using ice moves. You would think it would be resistant against it, I don’t know, all I noticed is that ice attacks flog everything so far.

Half the time when I’m in a battle, I’ll let my warrior go crazy with the other 2 (shale and Alistar) and control Morrigan myself so as to put vulnerability hexes on people and heal team members. Seems to work well, I can imagine how easy this game would be with multiple mages…

#77

Yeh from what I’ve read and saw when Chum was playin, frost is by far the most powerful, I’m just actively avoiding it to mix it up a bit. Am yet to face any major rapage, but that could be cause i’m still in the starting areas.

#78

ffs … i need to play this game … not one drop of DA for over a fortnight … .giving me the shits :mad2:

#79

Im playing with 2 psycho mages now in my evil bitch playthrough. BIG CHANGE from playing 2 warriors 1 mage 1 healer. Fucking backstabs do nothing compared to Tempest + Snowstorm. They get frozen, mana drained from lightning and then DIE!

I have 2 cone of colds, i specced my mages to be a blood mage + arcane warrior with a broadsword dragon armour and fire nukes with mass disables. I specced morrigan with lightning, cold, and mass heal. Yeah stuck it to that bitch, she has to heal people even though she hates everyone.

Also, lezzing out with Leilana as a chick, and I make fun of Alistair for being impotent. He -20 approval now haha.

#80

Haha, yeah I make Morrigan heal also as she is my only mage atm.

LOL, Alistair is a big douche.
